Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Brooke Elementary!

It is both a pleasure and an honour to serve as the principal of Brooke Elementary School. Our single-track school is home to approximately 330 students. We are privileged to be located on the traditional territory of the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations, as well as all the Hun’qumi’num people who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial. We are deeply grateful to be working and learning on this beautiful land.

School Guiding Statement: Through responsibility, respect, kindness, and self-awareness, we strive towards safety, belonging, and engaged learning for all members of the Brooke community.

In alignment with this statement, we emphasize the importance of recognizing learner differences and are committed to exploring ways to achieve continual growth for all our students. Additionally, we aim to build horizontal connections among our learners within classes and across grades. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging to oneself, with others, and to this place. By focusing on these areas, we are developing the character skills and academic competencies our students need to become successful community members and lifelong learners. It is crucial to our staff that all students are meaningfully engaged in their learning and see themselves as capable and competent learners.

At Brooke Elementary, we believe that learning is best achieved through a strong partnership between home and school. We rely on the support of families and our community to help students succeed. When staff and families work together to exchange information and collaborate in the learning process, our students experience greater success. Brooke Elementary welcomes families as partners in their children’s learning. Our Parent Advisory Council is active and meets regularly, supporting the school in numerous ways. They coordinate hot lunch days, raise funds for the school, and support our extracurricular programs. Our parent volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the staff have the resources needed to provide enriched and engaging learning experiences for our students.

In closing, I look forward to working with everyone in the Brooke community. Please feel free to stop by the office anytime to chat or ask questions.

Sincerely,

Jeff McCallum
Principal
